There are plenty of obstacles and enemies to contend with as you play Ori and the Blind Forest, but you’ll also need to contend with Spirit Gates as well. These Spirit Gates are locked doors that slow your progress, and each one requires either two or four Keystones hidden around the immediate area in order to open.

Each area contains a different number of Keystones that you’ll need to find in order to progress, and while some are easy and obvious, others take some doing. Our guide below has the location of all Keystones in Ori and the Blind Forest.
How To Use This Guide
As you venture through the world of Nibel in Ori and the Blind Forest, you’ll need to grab Keystones throughout.
We’ve broken our guide up by areas of Nibel for easier reading. Each area with Keystones and a Spirit Gate will be listed below, with instructions on how to get each Keystone to use the Spirit Gate.
In the maps, we've also included the location of each Spirit Gate, to make getting back there a little easier.
Keystones are not numbered in Ori and the Blind Forest the way we’ve numbered them in our guide.
This is simply done to help make consulting the maps and tables a little easier.
The Keystone markers in the maps are easy to miss, so not only have we numbered each Keystone, we've circled the Keystones in orange as well. These may be difficult to see, but you can make the map images larger by clicking on them for a closer look.
Once you’ve collected all the Keystones in an area, you’re then able to put them into the Spirit Gate once you get back there. After inserting the Keystones, the Spirit Gate opens, unlocking a new area for you to explore.
Additionally, not all areas of Nibel have Keystones or Spirit Gates. If you do not see an area in our guide below, then that means the area does not have Keystones to find.

1 | In the top right corner of this central chamber is the next Spirit Gate. From there, slide down the right wall and jump to the passageway on the left. Climb through this area and drop down into a small basin at the end to grab this Keystone. |
2 | From the Spirit Gate, slide down the right wall, wall jump to the left (below the corridor that took you to the Keystone above), and wall jump into a small corridor on the right for this Keystone. |
3 | Once you’ve opened the first Spirit Gate, the next two Keystones are on the left and right as you ascend this central chamber. They look a bit out of the way, but they’re both within jumping distance. Grab both before moving on. |
4 | |
5 | Push the boulder in this top area all the way, being mindful of the spikes. Jump over it once it’s stationary to find the Keystone. |
6 | Just to the right of the Map Stone at the end of what looks to be a dead end corridor on your map is the next Keystone. |
7 | From the Spirit Well, jump on the bounce pad to go back to the higher section of this area. Go left from here and pull back a rock for the Keystone. |
8 | Carefully cross the path of branch swings to the left of where you got the last Keystone to find the next one on an upper platform. |
Thornfelt Swamp

Number | Notes |
---|---|
1 | Once you’ve filled the area with water, dive to the bottom and go left. Just at the end of this corridor is your first Keystone. |
2 | Dive back into the water from the Keystone above and swim to the right. Be sure to catch your breath in the first air pocket, or you likely will not have enough to finish the swim. Dive back into the water and go a bit more to the right past some smashing stone plates. Evade them to find the Keystone on a ledge to the right. |
3 | While you’re trapped by Gumo, go through the right door to find the first Keystone. |
4 | Just before reaching the Ancestral Tree in Moon Grotto, drop in and carefully navigate around the moving spiked pillar. On the other side is the Keystone. |
Though the last two Keystones in this area are technically within Moon Grotto, the interactive map of Nibel on Steam includes them within Thornfelt Swamp.
As such, we've included them under Thornfelt Swamp as well.

1 | After being trapped with an enemy and taking care of it, go through the right door and jump into the portal on the right. From here, drop into the ground portal to emerge from the one above, then go right and land on the center section. Drop in here for the Keystone. |
2 | Double jump your way to the lower right portal to emerge from the one above, from which you’ll be able to see the Keystone. Double jump to grab it. |
3 | From the area beneath the Spirit Door (where you emerge from the portal), jump up and over the area with the Life Cell, then navigate down to the left past the spikes into this portal. You’ll emerge from the one above you, so dash down through this tree trunk to get this Keystone. |
4 | From the third Keystone, jump into the portal on the ceiling to your left. This spits you out under the spikes, just in front of the next Keystone. |
5 | Use your lantern to dash jump your way around these tight platforms, grabbing all four Keystones before moving on. |

1 | Each of these Keystones can be found in the unmapped upper area of Misty Woods as you're working toward the Ancestral Tree. Without a map, we can't show you directly where they are up there, but there are four Keystones hidden in the upper area of Misty Woods that open a Spirit Gate that's also within this unmapped area. |

2 | 2Go to the right side of the gold stone here and jump off, landing on the gold stone to the left. The Keystone is here. |
3 | Drop down from the map stone and carefully navigate the spikes here. The Keystone is on a platform in the upper left above the spikes. |
4 | In this area, the gold stones are your ticket to navigating the moving laser on the left. Once you’ve crossed them, the Keystone will be downward to the left. |

2 | From the first Keystone in the area, float downward and to the left. |
3 | From the second Keystone, go up and left into a hidden area to collect the third Keystone. |
4 | From the third Keystone, go right and descend all the way to the bottom, going left through the corridor and carefully through the lasers. |
5 | These next four Keystones are all in a cluster. After opening the lever that’s by the Ability Cell, simply navigate the lasers and grab all four Keystones before moving on. |

9 | These two Keystones are hidden within the spikes in the new area here. |
10 | |
11 | From the two hidden Keystones, keep floating left. |
12 | The final Keystone is in a hidden area just past the tricky-to-get Spirit Light Container. Keep floating left from there and go up just a bit to find your last Keystone. |
Unlike other collectibles in Ori and the Blind Forest, Keystones are essential for the progression of your game - find them quickly, so that you can carry onto the next area.
